Some Auburn fans were leaving by the end of the first quarter during Saturday night’s slaughter in Jordan-Hare. The eagle almost left even earlier.
In her traditional pre-game flight, Spirit appeared to actually fly behind the Jumbotron and out of the stadium. In the below video shouts of “Go, baby, go” are immediately followed by “come back, come back!”
It was one of the glorious bird’s longest flights in recent memory, and the most dramatic since that greasy rendezvous with a skybox window in 2011 that terrified small children.

She did fly out of the stadium. The wind was swirlling inside. We think thats what happened. But she dove down, got turned around, and headed out. We were all so scared. But she flew around and behind the Jumbotron, and almost went out again above the West side stands, and finally beat the swirling wind and landed. The trainers seemed to have tackled and pin her down after she landed.
That was an awesome video!! Haha I have no idea who was providing the commentary, but it made me smile…couldn’t make it to this game but I appreciate this going up here so quickly. War Eagle.
On the worst night in Auburn football history, this proved that even the darkest cloud has a silver lining. One of the best Eagle Flights EVER!!
The only thing I’ve had to laugh about all night. The commentary was hilarious. Thanks!
Well played, Auburn…Well played Gus. Welcome back.
