Michael Dyer’s meteoric rise up Auburn’s all-time rushing chart has come to a halt—at least for one game.
Citing unnamed sources, AuburnUndercover.com and AuburnSports.com are reporting that Dyer has been suspended for the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Virginia. The reason? “Not clear at this time.”
But the suspension does little to quell internet rumors about Dyer’s “attitude” that recycled throughout the 2011 season every week he received fewer carries than might have been expected from a sophomore who, you know, broke Bo Jackson’s freshman rushing record.
Dyer was called upon only 13 times in the biggest game of the year. Auburn’s rushing leader netted 48 yards in a frustrating Iron Bowl. Still, he moved a bit closer to Stacy Danley; No. 5 is currently 10th among Auburn’s all-time rushing leaders with 2,335 yards.
UPDATE: Dyer’s suspension is now being described as “indefinite” and has been officially confirmed by Auburn’s Athletic Department.

We are playing Virginia not Virginia Tech.
Well glad he is just suspended for the “Vigina Tech” we are going to need him in the bowl game aginst Virgina haha WDE
Paul, Karen, bless you.. yes, that’s Virginia… just Virginia.
Here’s to #5. He’s got some catching up to do to match the mistakes I made at that age. He has a tougher rule book and much more at stake, but I am betting he has the character and the support from the AU family to work through this. WAR EAGLE!
I hope he comes out of this a better man- but dude’s got to realize that, despite his tremendous talent, we’re going to be stacked at RB next year…
There have been many rumors about the problems he has been having all year, and I have heard from many different sources about what those may be. It is a safe to assume that these issues have played a major part of why he has not gotten the ball as much throughout the season.
I’d be upset too with only having a few carries in the Iron Bowl, although I would try not to get suspended over it.
Well, it appears that Coach Chizik means it when he tells these young men that Auburn was great before you got here, and it’s Auburn that makes YOU great, not the other way around. I hope this gives Dyer a solid wake up call to those facts straight in his head, which might just make him even better than he has been.
