Our long national nightmare is over: The plaque placed at the growing, growing growing Toomer’s Oak sapling planted on Capitol Hill has been corrected.
The plaque had lacked an possessive apostrophe “s” (“Toomer Oak”) and wrongly reversed the noble name of our storied land-grant university from Auburn University to “the University of Auburn.”
Thank you, Rep. Ross—we knew you were a reader.

Should we tell them that there is more than one oak tree at Toomer’s Corner? Ummm, maybe not.
Maybe he should re-donate it back to the University to replace the murdered tree.
