The Daily Believer: 1.08.10

The Daily Believer is your daily-ish dose of whAUtever, a dose that grows by the second, minute, hour, who knows. Maybe there’s something going on tonight at the Gnu’s Room. Maybe there’s a volleyball game. Maybe there’s some update to The War Eagle Reader you need to know about. Maybe last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother referenced Bo, or had a nice, faux vintage Auburn t-shirt all up in it. Maybe Pat Dye’s Pants have no reserve on eBay. In other words, we’re live-blogging Auburn – town, gown, idea – and we need your help. Are you putting on an event? A show? Let us know. Know about one? Let us know. Spot Chizik at Byrons? Let us know. Did you see that episode of House? Let us know.

Got 12?

Always low prices. Always: He’s been saving it for the right moment for years, and last night, Chris Shelling Jr. finally got to bust out this gem of a line on some unsuspecting Bammer at a Birmingham bar:

“I’m wearing an Auburn shirt because I went to Auburn. You’re wearing a Bama shirt because you went to Wal-Mart.”

Beautiful, right?

But that the very next morning’s headlines would include the news that Bama’s brand new BCS trophy will actually be on display Saturday at the Tuscaloosa Wal-mart?

Coach Nick Saban and the tide accepted the BCS trophy in the center of the Rose Bowl field Thursday night. Now, the trophy is heading to Tuscaloosa. This weekend fans can get up close and personal with the sparkling football. The trophy will be on display Saturday, January 9 at the Walmart Supercenter on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, from noon until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, it will be in the Gardendale location on 890 Odum Road from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Fans should be able to have their picture taken with the trophy.

… it’s almost too poetically perfect to comprehend.
