I kind of thought the story was made up until I saw this… good God…

Shouldn’t those be those dork straw hats hanging on the Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry 2-liters instead of hounds tooth fedoras?
Saban won a national championship at Bama in three years; it took Bear Bryant four.
Did you see something AUsome? Weird? Today? Whenever? Take a picture of it?
Send it to us at photos@thewareaglereader.com.
You thought it was made up? You can’t make this stuff up.
Gold. Solid gold.
You’re right about the hat deal. If Saban was a real man, he would get up in front of everybody and say ‘I’m the coach now, that guy’s been dead for twenty years, so you need to shut up about him and support me and what we’re doing right now.’ You know it’s got to bother/confuse the hell out of him. But he just won’t say anything about it because he knows how deep their worship runs and he’s scared of the would-be “backlash”.
Saban to USC. Completely unsubstantiated rumor that I’ve just made up myself this evening, but I would love to see it stir up the Bammers.
Plus, couldn’t you see that one actually happening? He has no buyout. Would you rather have a fantastic recruiting base with a highly talented team and live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama… or Los Angeles?
Uh oh. What’s this?

It only took Gene Stallings 3 years to win a national championship there as well. And he did not win the conference again after that season.
Here are some more pictures. Could these people be even more stereotypical? My favorites are pictures 1 and 21.

The only thing that woulda made that event “better” would have been a set of really trashy convention booth babes. Somebody at Bama really dropped the ball.
Parkhead…thanks for the link…kinda helps me understand some of those blog posts I see from Sigmatider and others who lurk around Goldberg and Evan’s blogs…waiting for a chance to dump of AU. Somewhere in one of those pictures is “bigfreeze” or one of his buddies….I’m almost certain.
If only those were bottles of bourbon.
The people’s trophy resides in a place of easy access, with adequate parking. And maybe you’ll pick up some memorabelia on your way out.
In Kayenta, Arizona, they have part of a private collection of stuff honoring the Code Talkers of WWII in a Burger King. Apparantly it was in the possession of one of the local Navajo guys who actually served in the unit. Hey, if you want people to see it.
I heard that Walmart will be rolling back the price of the coaches trophy to only $20,000
I wish I coulda been there. I know it isn’t the real one, but I would have loved to just randomly “bump” into the trophy and snicker as it crashed to the ground, shattering like the dreams of 1,000 mulletted Bammers and all 4 of their teeth.
TigerEyez: it’s true, there aren’t many more visible places out here to put something like that, especially if you want anyone a) non-white b) under the age of 45 to see it. (For the record, Kayenta’s about, oh, an hour from here.)
Parkhead – now that’s priceless!
Where do we go to see Auburn’s championship trophy?
I’d crawl on my hands and knees to see it at the House of Turkey if Auburn would bring one home in my life time
