TWER‘s Weekly Football Viewing Guide

#14 Georgia Tech @ #20 Miami
Line: Hurricanes favored by 4
6:30 CT on ESPN
Tech has not looked great in either of their two wins, and I think Miami is too talented to let the Yellow Jackets beat them at home. I say the ‘Canes win it at home 21-10.

#10 Boise State @ Fresno State
Line: Boise favored by 10 on Monday, but the money quickly went on Fresno and the line has moved to 7.
8 CT on ESPN
Boise also didn’t look good in a win over Oregon, and Fresno State lost a heartbreaker last week to Wisconsin in overtime. Does Fresno State have their head right for this rivalry game? Should be interesting and the smart money is going with Fresno State. I like Boise close, 41-35.

Saturday morning

Sleep in. The morning games are mostly garbage.

Saturday afternoon

Tennessee @ #1 Florida
Line: Gators were favored by 25 points on Monday, and it’s up to 30 with some books. Tennessee has never been this big of a dog (-18 @ USC in 1981).
2:30 CT on CBS
Meyer doesn’t like Tennessee and he doesn’t like lane Kiffin’s mouth, but I still see this being a closer-than-the-experts-think game. And by that I mean Gators 48-24.

#19 Nebraska @ #13 Virginia Tech
Line: Hokies favored by 4 (up from 3.5).
2:30 CT on ABC
The Huskers travel to Blacksburg in a revenge game that Nebraska lost at home last year, 35-30. I could see a repeat of the same score, but I like Nebraska in a nail biter, 24-20.

Saturday night

Ahh, the night games, where true happiness lies for all football fans. I’ve got four games I want to watch, but I’ll be at the Auburn game and can only watch one.

Florida State @ #7 BYU
Line: Cougars favored by 7.5 (up from 6.5).
5:30 CT on VS.
Does BYU deserve to be #7? Did FSU really almost lose to Jacksonville State? The Seminoles have a fast defense that can make BYU pay if they turn the ball over, and BYU’s defense is solid but not as fast as the ‘Nole offense. In the end, I think the Cougars rise and shout with a 35-24 victory at home.

#23 Georgia @ Arkansas
Line: Pick’em!
6:45 CT on ESPN
I’m not buying into the Hog hype. I think Georgia beat a very good South Carolina team last week, and the puppies and the ginger ninja run over the Hogs in Fayettnam this week, 31-17.

West Virginia @ Auburn
Line: Good guys favored by 7 (up from 4.5, the money likes Auburn).
6:45 CT on ESPN2
WVU’s quirky defense could give Auburn trouble: Remember, the Mountaineers are used to seeing this type of offense. They may hold Auburn to less than 500 yards this week (gasp!). The good guys win at home, 27-17

Texas Tech @ #2 Texas
Line: Horns favored by 17.5
7 CT on ABC
Revenge game, the Horns will be out for blood and may beat Tech like a rented mule. Watch out for new Red Raider QB Taylor Potts who has better numbers than Harrell did this time last year AND he’s spreading the ball around far better since there’s no Crabtree to lock in on. Horns still win comfortably 42-24.
