Soon to be Auburn University graduate Madison Prewett won $8,000 on The Price is Right.
The episode aired on CBS Tuesday at 10 a.m., but can be viewed online at CBS.com.
Prewett said she and her mother decided on a whim to buy tickets for The Price is Right while they were on a trip to California in January.
Madison and her mother arrived late to the early showtime at 9 a.m. and had to wait until the 1 p.m. show.
“We were so upset, but we knew there was a reason why we didn’t make it there on time,” she said.
They returned for the 1 p.m. show and Madison was called to the stage.
“We just had this weird feeling that something was going to happen–that one of us was going to get called up,” she said.
Madison played the game “Put it in the Bag,” where she had to match grocery items to the correct price. She could win up to $16,000 in the game and could stop at anytime and take her money.
After reaching the $8,000, she decided to play it safe and take her prize.
“It was a blur in the moment–this weird out of body experience,” Prewett said.
She said she plans to save a large portion of the prize money, considering her upcoming college graduation. She is set to graduate from Auburn University with a degree in Communications this weekend.
“I’m still thinking and praying about (what I’ll do with the money),” she said.
