For Auburn, the late great Phil Neel did it all. Programs. Schedule cards. Posters. Tickets…
…and Christmas cards, at least for a few years. Because in the late 50s, Auburn was the merriest dang place in the SEC. Visions of Shug-ar plums. Win-ter Wonderland.
Here’s what they looked like on the inside.

This was a really big time for all of us on the Plains, the year I graduated. We had waited a long time while our sisters on the other side of the state had won 3 or 4. Now it was our time to celebrate and we did in every conceivable way. This might not have been Auburn’s best team but it was very stingy on defense and shut out six of their opponents and allowed only 4 touchdowns all season. Phil Neel knew how to capture every situation with drawings on Aubie and that was the start of our wonderful mascot. Bill Bowling, class 1957.
