The Auburn snow of 1977. It was a good one. Classes at AU were cancelled. Recent grad Sherri Hughes, who was student teaching in Columbus, was in town visiting her boyfriend Kelley Griswold, a senior at Auburn. The roads back to Georgia were too treacherous to make it back. She was stuck on the Plains. So she and Kelley decided to make the most of it.
“We left from the TKE house, which isn’t far from the stadium,” Sherri says. “It was just a whim when we saw the stadium gate locked with a chain and padlock. We squeezed through the gate and went inside the empty stadium. I went up the steps to get a photo of Kelley on the field. When I turned around, I caught him in action…”

Of course they got married, in August that same year. (And live in an awesome house.)
