It wasn’t for lack of skill or hustle—it was bad, bad, bad luck, enough to drive you crazy, badum.
Auburn grads Caitlin King and Brittany Fletcher were eliminated from The Amazing Race on last night’s episode after being thrice screwed over by errant pedicab drivers. (Apparently you don’t actually have to know where things are to drive a taxi in Indonesia.)
The delays put the best friends neck and neck on the streets of Bangil, Indonesia with bumbling substitute teacher circus act Gary and Will—think Twins, only lacking charisma and unable to tie balloon animals—in the final stretch to the pit stop. King’s and Fletcher’s driver managed to pedal just past the other best friends… only to take the wrong turn at a fork in the road.
“You cost us the race, bro.”
“The Blonde Girls” found host Phil Keoghan maybe a minute too late. He told them they were out. He asked what happened.
“The driver was just a hot mess,” Fletcher replied, in what may have been the first time in the history of the world an Indonesian pedicab driver has been called a hot mess.
The girls said their goodbyes and Fletcher gave a final signature snort.
Fletcher isn’t used to losing CBS game shows. She won the Showcase Showdown on a 2005 episode of The Price Is Right. Here’s the video.
