If we may get our Stefon on, this Department of the Interior film on the creation of Auburn’s Chewacla State Park has it all: advice from Horace Greeley, dismantled mills, reenactments of the Gay 90s, “charming young farmer-ettes,” the hardest exposed rock in the United States, waterfalls, beautiful bridle trails, sunbathing 1930s coeds, and look over there — is it Mick Jagger? No! It’s a self-Pavloviating dog in a pill box hat riding a velocipede and answering a telephone that possibly belongs to the Father of Auburn Football (it’s not his house but that professor looks an awful lot like George Petrie).
Watch it again and again, and be proud.
Thanks to Brian Brown for the tip!

That is ausome! I think you mean “bridle paths” but, those girls are probably about to get married anyways; maybe to the Corps boys who probably enjoyed the natural beauty of both the bridal paths and the farmerettes.. I love it when he says, “When dam sites are cleared…..”
Ah, yes, you’re right. And yes, you’re right. I’ll change it though.
Are you sure I didn’t send you this first??
Very cool! Spent many an afternoon swappin’ “doobies” and ogling and occassionally co-mingling with the local coed population at Chewacla.
I remember about 8-10 of my frat bros about this time of year decided to take a canoe trip after a couple of days rain swole the stream pretty good. They got stuck in the middle of nowhere when the water went down. Spent the night in their canoes tied up to a tree. Lee County sheriffs had to go get them.
I think the bell-ringing, phone-answering dog deserves more research. Now to see what I can find!
