is that a 6-6, 340-pound offensive lineman, one carrying an Alabama offer and universally considered one of top in-state prospects for the class of 2011, has committed to Auburn.
That’s what matters. Everything else is noise.
Granted, and not surprisingly, there’s been a lot of noise. That happens when you’re talking about a recruit described by everyone [...]
Arkansas 82, Auburn men 79 (OT)
Give the Auburn men some credit. A lot of it, even. Arkansas entered this game as hot as any team in the league, having won back-to-back roadies at Georgia and Ole Miss to take over first in the SEC West. They have Courtney Fortson, a first team All-SEC talent. And [...]
Last time was the offensive position coaches, this time is the defensive position coaches, next time are the coordinators, and the final time will be Gene Chizik his own self.
So don’t take these grades too seriously, please; it’s primarily an attempt to simply recap the season and spotlight what specifically went wrong and what went right. Your mileage will vary.
As if to confirm for all of us that one Signing Day is only a brief rest stop on the way to the next one, Auburn grabbed their first commitment of 2011 today: Izauea Lanier, the ‘09 athlete/DB out of Gordo who spent his single season at East Mississippi C.C. (and first as a full-time defensive back) fruitfully, racking up 66 tackles, four picks, and nine pass breakups. He’ll redshirt this fall and enroll next January with three full years of eligibility.

DE Corey Lemonier, Hialeah FL (6-5, 223)
There’s no unseating Michael Dyer as the consensus crown jewel of Auburn’s class, according [...]
As a current blogger and former journalist, there are times I can’t help but wish Gene Chizik could liven up his press conferences just a bit, give the media classes just a few more juicy quotes to spice up our blog posts and wire stories.
Then there are times like yesterday, when what I wish for [...]
Sorry: this post has more to do with me than with Auburn.
But it’s my blog, so I’m the one who gets to take a moment and express how this moment, this afternoon, feels like the final few seconds before your favorite band takes the stage at a concert you’ve been waiting on for months. The [...]
Forgive us for not mentioning this sooner, but it was a big weekend for gymnastics.
Sorry, I have to show this to you.
It’s official: four-star defensive tackle and U.S. Army All-American Jeffrey Whitaker will sign with Auburn on Wednesday.
This is wicked awesome for any number of reasons:
1. After what appears to be a giant whiff on freshman (i.e. non-Nick Fairley) tackle prospects in Auburn’s last recruiting class, DT was the position of absolute highest need for the [...]
