New taco truck treatin’ Auburn students right

Auburn, we got ourselves a convoy. Of food trucks. I’m talkin’ food trucks be everywhere, taco trucks especially: carne cruisin’ down Opelika Road, at shows out in Waverly, in the Momma Goldberg’s on Glenn parking lot. (Lord, I even think the dude who should have won the first Chopped champions tournament was a food trucker.)

And if by chance (for the sake of conversation) the new Chipotle didn’t have the orgasmic grand opening it was hoping for, blame the Haley concourse taco truck that has students lining up as if for bowl tickets.

Watch Aubie’s championship winning skit

We’re not sure when mascots began being measured by their ability to cram as many pop-culture references inside a two minute skit, but as long as they are, Aubie should win the UCA national championship every year. Breaking out an Aubie-striped fat suit to parody Chris Farley’s 1990 SNL Chippendale skit? Good God, man—there’s hope for the young generation yet.

We’re also pleased to know that Aubie’s refusal to let Lee decapitate him for a Gameday prediction is apparently common enough mascot competition circuit knowledge for a Bad Corso, No Donut bit.

AU Dance Marathon staff break it down in new promo video

Watching goofily costumed coeds cutting rugs through the student center to Hall and Oates in the new promo video for the upcoming AU Dance Marathon was the most fun I’ve had today, and that’s coming from a guy who was walking around the house trying to hit the high note in that Mika song all morning.

From the AU Dance Marathon website: “The Auburn University Dance Marathon is a year-long campus wide fundraising effort that benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraising effort culminates in a 12-hour Dance Marathon celebrating the monies rasied for this incredible charity.”

The beneficent boogie’ing begins Feb. 3.

Auburn fan in new ESPN commercial

Wonder of wonders—ESPN briefly acknowledges Auburn in its latest “It’s Not Crazy, It’s Sports” commercial, at least the extended, online-only version. A dude in an Auburn hat and sweatshirt quietly grins while a friend makes good on a lost bet by shaving off his eyebrows.

It’s not exactly promotional parity with Bama’s ripped off “Roll Tide” version, but since the 2010 Iron Bowl is likely the only game in recent memory that would have inspired so drastic a wager, we’ll still feel good about it. And hey, the preacher at the end of the Bama commercial later repented with a “War Eagle.” Punt, hegemony, punt!
