Just when things were looking up for the Auburn basketball team in the Diamond Head Classic, the Tigers set for themselves a new series of low standards for the season against Long Beach State in the tournament semifinals. Perhaps the best part of Auburn’s victory over Hawaii in the tournament opener two nights ago was [...]
Auburn fans who stayed up late Thursday night and into early Friday morning to see their Tigers compete in the first round of the Diamond Head Classic were treated to a thrilling game and a 65-62 victory over the home standing Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Things seemed all but lost for the Tigers when they faced [...]
The 2011-2012 Auburn basketball team has been in the national spotlight just once this young season, in an 81-59 loss to Seton Hall during the SEC/Big East Challenge on Dec. 2. For many of expat Auburn fans, the loss—Auburn’s first road test of the season and the only time the Tigers have been nationally televised [...]
The Good Guys: In a way, Saturday’s game could provide some relief to the Auburn faithful, as it brings about the conclusion of the brutal four-game stretch that they’ve been dreading since January 11. With an upset victory in Columbia, and in holding serve last week at home against Florida, Auburn has navigated it better [...]
Since fate would have it that there be no extensive Friday Preview this week, here I offer as a small substitute some quick thoughts and predictions before tonight’s prime time tilt. Please enjoy, and know that we’ll be returning to our regularly scheduled previewage next week. The last time Auburn and Florida met was in [...]
The Good Guys: I said in last week’s South Carolina preview that if Auburn would be able to come away with a victory in Columbia, then it would reset Auburn’s entire season, effectively making up for the loss at Clemson and bringing everyone’s expectations and the outlook of the season moving forward back to square [...]
A win on Saturday would appear to make up for the loss at Clemson entirely. For the team and fans alike, everything would reset back to zero, and the season, and everyone’s judgments and expectations, would begin anew. A win on the road against a top-ten opponent tomorrow would be so big for Auburn 2011 everything would be brought back to square one.
It’s not going to be easy for Auburn win.
Enjoying the final days of sweet September.
The Good Guys: October is coming. It’s coming fast. But first, Auburn has a home contest with Florida Atlantic that will hopefully help get the Tigers back on track. Auburn has taken the week to look itself in the mirror, and focus on improving its own game. That’s usually not the approach you’d like to [...]
The Good Guys: So far in 2011, the Auburn Tigers have simply been carry-overs from 2010. Auburn’s only existence has been as the “defending national champions,” and as momentary holders of the soon-to-be-ended nation’s longest winning streak. So far, the entirety of 2011 has been hidden in the shadows of 2010. That could all change [...]
