Look, the only way the San Jose State whatevers are going to have any shot at pulling off the biggest upset in the 75-year history of Jordan-Hare Stadium is if they are mentally prepared to withstand the crazy, totally unique atmosphere the makes an Auburn game so wild. Stuff like fight songs. And country music. (Lord knows how many games Auburn has won on the back of Toby Keith alone.)
Which is why, yes, according to San Jose beat writer Jimmy Durkin, the—SPARTANS!—were piping in the Auburn Fight Song and “country music” at Tuesday’s practice.
It’s kind of like my friend who moved to Birmingham from New York in 9th grade and was amazed we all had shoes on our feet and paved roads to walk on.
Good luck, SJSU. You’re gon’ learn a lot about football and a little ’bout love come Saturday, I tell you what.

They’re going to be really prepared for their game in Cliff-Hare Stadium in 1965, if that’s the only recording of “War Eagle” they could get their hands on.
They’re gonna hear that thar ‘War Eagle’ fight song a lot on Saturday with all them thar TDs AU’s gonna score.
🙂
Sounds like about a 40 year old version of War Eagle, too!
Were they also practicing with a non-functioning game clock?
I was in the band at AU in the late 90s.. I have never heard that version of War Eagle. Someone should help them out and send them an up to date version.
They clearly have no concept of SEC hospitality. We don’t throw things at non-conference teams. We feed them and War Eagle them and share our booze. It’s the Auburn way!
