Auburn legend David Langner passed away Saturday morning. He was one of the stars of the 1972 Iron Bowl. He was also the star of possibly the greatest lede to a football story ever written. The two are related. The story was by the OA-News’ Paul Cox. NSFW.
“BIRMINGHAM–David Langner was visibly shaken as he stood stark naked cuddling a football under each arm in the Auburn dressing room.”
Yep, Langner had some pair of balls on him in the locker room that day. And he kept them both. Bill Newton never got one. So Langner.
