Auburn is opening its 2015 season against Louisville in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta. The last (and only other) time Auburn lined up against the Cardinals for the first game of the season was in 1974 and resulted in a classic (they were all classic) Phil Neel program cover. But had Lee Corso gotten his way, the Amazins would have been amazin against Louisville in 1972’s season opener. You can read letter he wrote to Shug asking to schedule the game here.

I remember that 1974 game pretty well, mainly because all the AU frat guys kept yelling at each other, “WHAT IT IS!” Yeah, they sounded brilliant.
I hated Legion Field.
I have that program here in my desk at home
