The Auburn Athletics Department squired media members around campus in Tiger Transit buses late Friday morning to show off the new areas available for tailgaters come fall. More than 2,000 free parking spots for both cars and RVs have been created. Bathrooms will be added. Bollards and chains and other things are being removed. Walls are coming down.
Here’s a video with details. And you can find more here.
After burgers and dogs, we interviewed Jay about his own tailgating habits back in the day. He was a library man, Mell Street. He joined the Boy Scouts as a kid so he could get in to the stadium for free and hunt for chinstraps after the game. Still has one of Gusty Yearout’s. But the camera died. No video.
We did manage to get some footage of him acting as tour guide at the beginning of the trip.
