The Toomer’s Oaks have been souvenir-bound for more than a year. And though we still don’t know exactly what the items available for purchase will be, we now know how to tell if they’re real.
Just look for the tag.
And the name.
Due to licensing issues, merchandise made from the wood of the Toomer’s Oaks will be branded as official “Auburn Oaks” items, the proceeds from which will go entirely toward student scholarships.
Related: Woodturned item made from Toomer’s Oaks will be on permanent display in Auburn art museum.

I like the eagle head in the toilet paper stream. Classy.
Why can’t they use the name Toomer’s?
Dave, The university owns the trees but I imagine Toomer’s Drug’s would argue the name “Toomer’s Oaks” was at least in-part, their property. Calling it “Auburn Oaks” avoids any wrangling over the name. In short, this way Auburn keeps all the proceeds from the sale with no legal challenges.
I get what you’re saying, but Toomer’s should want its name on these things, even if it’s not getting any of the proceeds. Just to keep the Toomer’s trees name going.
I agree with Dave – removing Toomer’s from the name loses a bit of the tradition. Was Toomer’s Drugs not willing to sign off on allowing the use of a portoin of its name (at which point, everyone would be in favor of dropping their name to protect the scholarship proceeds), or did Auburn fail to even ask for their permission?
We just don’t know if we should direct our displeasure at Toomer’s or Auburn on this one…
