To clear up some confusion, “You will be called” should be read in the spiritual sense, as in unto the ministry of miracles and legends and love, not as an actual wake-up call, etc., which happened earlier.

Roy Riley, at the time the assistant sports editor of the Birmingham Post Herald and an Auburn grad, had a rather strange photgraph on his office wall. It was of him and his boss, Bill Lumpkin, passing each other behind the goal post at the north end of Legion Field. The explanation was that he and Lumpkin had left the press box late in the 1972 Iron Bowl, Lumpkin to the winners dressing room and Roy to the losers. When Auburn blocked the two kicks, they suddenly had to switch locker rooms! The picture was snapped when they were half way across the fild. I understand Roy delighted in having to explain to visitors the odd picture.
Sadly, Roy passed away much too young. We all lost a rising star in sports journalism.
