Are players who played on Auburn’s National Championship team more affected by 1-7 than underclassmen?

Does Gene Chizik think 1-7 has Onterio McCalebb downer in the dumps Tre Mason?

For fans, yes—rock bottom surely hurts more because Auburn fell so fast… so fast and from so high. But what about the players that helped bring the crystal football (that ESPN flashed footage of after every commercial break) to the Plains? Does Gene Chizik think it’s harder for Auburn’s juniors and seniors to handle the agony of repeated defeats than Auburn’s freshman and sophomores?

“I don’t think you can date back to the successes that you had and to say it hurts any more now because you won 22 games the last two years. It hurts. Nobody likes to lose,” Chizik said in his post-game press conference following Auburn’s 63-21 loss to Texas A&M. “I know nobody in that locker room likes to lose. I don’t know that if I can qualify that it hurts those guys more than anybody else. You have a lot of young freshmen in there that came to Auburn to win so it hurts them, too. I think it is all around very disappointing for everybody in the locker room.”
