The Bull graduated from Auburn University yesterday.
Just like the 2010 Iron Bowl, he did it for Charlie.
“Eltoro Freeman just walked across the stage to cheers from his brother Charlie,” Auburn University assistant professor and sports media researcher Lauren Smith tweeted during yesterday’s commencement ceremony at Auburn Arena.
But, just like the 2010 Iron Bowl, he also did it for his mama.
“This was my mom’s dream since she was a child,” Freeman told AU beat writer Joel Erickson. “She just stays 30 minutes from Auburn in Alex City. When I was growing up she told me that she wanted to go to Auburn and graduate from Auburn. And for me to let her experience that through me, I don’t even think I have the words to explain that feeling and to see the smile on her face because that was her dream and her son did it.”

Congrats to El Toro! My Mom wanted to be a Vet and go to Auburn. I got the degree, just in Engineering. I know it made her proud for me to walk across that stage, too, though. “I love you Charlie!”
Good for you Toro. Read about this yesterday and it still fires me up. With all the other BS we’ve got going on around our program right now, this is what it’s all about. Makes me very proud to be an Auburn alum and fan. War Eagle
How can you not like/respect Eltoro? Dude plays with heart. Proud of him. Even more proud after hearing the story about his mom.
The Bull!!
Very proud of Eltoro. In this day and age when so many of our players leave school early, it makes me proud. And honored to call him a fellow graduate/alum of our great university. Cheers Eltoro!
Hey, guess who else finally graduated yesterday? It feels weird to not be an Auburn student for the first time in 14 years. I’m loving TWER-way to make it happen, Jeremy! 🙂
Ditto, Dr. G — that’s awesome. Congrats!
