The 2012 Pro Bowl rosters have been released and Hawai’i will have a few folks from the loveliest village celebrating in floral shirts.
Carlos Rogers, the famed first rounder who performed so ably for the Tigers leading up to the 2004 run has found new life in San Francisco. The former Jim Thorpe Award winner had six interceptions and 39 tackles helping the Niners who are trying to wrap up a first round playoff bye.
DeMarcus Ware played his college ball at Troy, of course, but he’s a local boy done good. In his seventh season in the NFL the Auburn native has recorded 53 stops in 15 starts so far. His won’t be the only blue star helmet in Hawai’i.
Ware will be joined by his teammate, and Rogers’ former teammate, Jay Ratliff. This will be his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance. Things are pretty simple for Ware, Ratliff and the Cowboys heading into the final week of the regular season. If they beat the Giants on New Year’s Day, Dallas is back in the postseason.
But what of Cam Newton?
He didn’t make it, and no wonder. He’s facing stiff competition in the NFC where Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Eli Manning are lighting up defenses. The good news, according to the Charlotte News Observer, is this: if any of those three guys makes it to the Super Bowl, Newton could go to the Pro Bowl in their place.
Through 15 games, this is how those guys stack up against Newton:
Rodgers 4,643 yards, 45 TDs, 6 INTs, 122.5 Rate, 4 Rushing TDs
Brees 5,087 yards, 41 TDs, 13 INTs, 108.4 Rate, 1 Rushing TD
Manning 4,587 yards, 26 TDs, 16 INTs, 90.3 Rate, 1 Rushing TD
Newton 3,893 yards, 20 TDs, 16 INTs, 85 Rate, 14 Rushing TDs

Rogers and Campbell’s (before his injury) success on the Left Coast is pretty easy to explain: The Redskins organization is a black hole. Awesome that Carlos Rogers pulled it back together after getting the hell outta D.C.
What a rookie season. Way to shut erebody up, Cammy Cam!
Couldn’t agree more, Hunt-er.
