Well, Brown might be more trouble than he’s worth, I’ll grant that. I’ve not seen AU mentioned anywhere as a possible landing spot, anyway, so it’s probably moot.

H-G, it’s not like Saban’s ever hid the fact that he believes a pro-style system is far superior to the spread in terms of NFL preparation. I’m not sure Region would have heard it straight from the horse’s mouth (probably not, since by most accounts Region’s had trouble getting back in the coachbot’s good graces ever since the Auburn commitment), but I also doubt he came up with it totally on his own.

Good point, WBE. I wonder if Region came up with that “spread hinders the NFL-ness” garbage on his own. I bet it was all those dirty bammers and Saban. Let’s hope this kid can eventually become like the ever-steady Trovon Reed and learn to make up his own mind.

Man, Amorak, really? Newton’s one thing, Region’s one thing, but Brown and his hangers-on look for all the world to me like a major violation just waiting to happen. I’ve had a bad feeling about him for a while and would want Auburn to stay plenty clear; it’s not like he looked all that impressive in his limited carries for UT anyway.

Sounds like Bryce Brown’s gonna transfer from UT. Wonder if he’d consider coming to Auburn. I’m basing this on absolutely nothing other than the fact that I think it’d be cool.

Ah, damn, it’d been a while since I’d forgotten a footnote. Gimme a sec. And I wouldn’t say that about Michigan, Michael, I’d just say it about Detroit. And maybe “downriver.” And the stunningly rural county north of Ann Arbor which a friend of mine once described as “more like Alabama than Alabama.” But, um, Ann Arbor and the U.P. are awesome.

H-G, I saw the note, but I don’t know any more than you do. (I track what other people are putting out there pretty closely, but I don’t have any recruiting sources that don’t live on the Internet.) My personal feeling is that I’ll be stunned if Auburn’s coaches take him after that “the spread won’t get me ready for the NFL” B.S. (which you KNOW is one of the No. 1 things used against Auburn in negative recruiting), but if they do, hey, the kid can drive-block, we need linemen, and frankly if we can embrace a starting quarterback who bought a stolen laptop and tried to keep that fact from the police, we can sure as hell embrace a kid who got a little vindictive and wishy-washy in his recruitment. If the coaches wind up OK with him, I’ll be OK with him.
