I was hopeful that Phillips would provide some depth in 2010. The cupboard looks low for back ups next year and frighteningly bare for starters in 2011.

Comparisons to Ziemba were not intended to disparage the young man, although Z's carreer to date hasn't lived up to expectations, has it? The first three things that come to mind when I hear his name are (a) false starts; (b) tackle eligible debacles (not really his fault); and, lately (c) blitzing LBs and DBs flying past him on the way to maul Chris Todd. Hopefully, he will inspire better images in his final year.

Commish, back in October, I think, it was reported that Phillips had left school as well as the team. Chizik left the door open for a return but my guess is he's gone for good.

I'll agree that Mosley is more likely to end up on the line than out at receiver--think Gus could figure out a tackle-eligible play or two for him?--but imagining him bowling over corners on the edge is a tempting thought, too. We'll see.

By the way, if this kids ends up playing and contributing, I would bet it all it is on the Offensive Line. That kid is going to gain, not lose, weight in college, and heavier kids with some quicks are in short supply for the OL. Just look at him: he's Lee Ziemba, Jr.

Since we've got plenty-o-time to discuss random topics, and speaking of Auburn's neet at OT, what ever happened to Aubrey Phillips? He left for health related concerns but is he still/will he be on the team in 2010?

Watched him on tv. Kid has a nasty streak coaches love in offensive linemen. If he can bulk up, he looks to be a nice addition on the line in a few years. As you've pointed out a few times, can't have too many of those.
