The fact about Petey Smith: He went from a high 4 star junior to a mid 3* senior. How often have you seen athletes go 'down' in ratings without any injury? There were issues because of which most teams (including Auburn) lost interest in him.

Neither team was very interested in the kid. However saban took him to show it as a recruiting victory over Auburn. I don't see him playing anytime soon for either team.

Marmot, I did think about that, but I'm not yet ready to imagine a world where Tubby sides with Bobby Freaking Petrino over his own former players. I don't want to believe he's that bitter.

Jerry, I think you are reading the Tubberville thing incorrectly. He's TRYING to motivate the Razorbacks, doing what he can to make life a little harder for the coach who is making the last few years of his Auburn tenure look pretty foolish. I've always wondered if he was an Arkansas fan at heart. this reminds me of the time, a few years ago, when Pat Dye accused the Dawgs of not being man enough to take on Alabama, just prior to the Bama/Georgia matchup. Dye was obviously trying to stir his alma mater to victory.

Yes, AU is clearly the superior team over the last ten years...and that hinges on what? Beating a Bama team on probation and enduring coaching changes?

Yes, AU has clearly been the dominant program the last decade with all the championships that have been won...oh wait...

I hope AU is unbeaten coming into the Iron Bowl so the game will actually hold meaning again.

"I’m sure you’ve read enough of the Gold Mine/Bama Beat’s threads to know that’s where that sort of thing is most at home."

I can only agree while sighing deeply.

@ el carg I wonder that same question all the time. My dad brought it up after smith came back from his suspension and started blocking and making great short catches for some good gains. I think things like this have gotten some kids to start rethinking their decisions like sanders and potentially beasley.
@ Doug, I read a similar story (actually an autobiography) of a kid that grew up an Alabama fan but chose Auburn so he could keep playing his position and play right away. After his choice he was told he would never beat always superior tide. The persons name slips me at the moment.... o wait I remember it was Bo Jackson.

Even though the idea of Alabama's team being the superior program over the last, say, ten years is pretty hilarious
